Events Center West is more than just a venue—it’s a space with history, character, and a story all its own.

Originally built in the early 1980s, our building was home to the iconic Billy Joe’s Pitcher Show, a one-of-a-kind combination of a lounge and movie theater that became a local favorite in West Des Moines. Known for its lively atmosphere, midnight movie showings, and welcoming environment, it was a place where people gathered, celebrated, and created lasting memories for over 25 years.

In 2009, the space was completely transformed into what is now Events Center West—while still preserving one of its most unique features: the tiered layout of the original theater.

Today, that same layout offers something truly special for events, providing clear views, an open feel, and a one-of-a-kind setting you won’t find anywhere else.

While the space has evolved, its purpose remains the same—bringing people together to celebrate life’s most important moments.
